Act Locally, Think Globally With Crucial Music

Crucial Music places international artists in US films and television shows.

Los Angeles, CA (Billboard Publicity Wire) April 23, 2008 -- Crucial Music, an online service that connects independent artists and labels with music supervisors who place music in film television and advertising, is establishing itself as a leader in the marketplace, with feature placements of international artists in highly rated television shows and feature films.

The Elliots of Sweden have been receiving much attention from Crucial's music supervisor clients. Since their signing, Crucial Music has placed their songs in ABC Family's Kyle XY, CBS' Close To Home, and CBS' Moonlight (multiple episodes). Petur Olafsson, member of The Elliots says "We are impressed with the professional approach and the support that Crucial Music gives us. Their placement of our songs in major TV-series like Moonlight and Kyle XY has brought worldwide attention to our music. It has helped us to sell our songs and provided us with solid financial support that allows us to keep on recording new songs. Being a small and fairly unnoticed Swedish band before, this co-operation has given us new opportunities to reach out, both locally and internationally."

Another singer-songwriter who has benefited from Crucial Music's services is Geoff Martyn, who is based in Glasgow, Scotland. Martyn was a founding member of Travis, and is now pursuing a solo recording career. Crucial has placed his songs in ABC's Men In Trees (multiple episodes), ABC's new hit show Eli Stone and ABC's Brothers & Sisters. Geoff Martyn says, "Crucial has been instrumental in getting me deals with some of the biggest shows on the best networks. Coming from the UK, I didn't expect this to work quite as well as it has, but the placements keep coming and I'm happy to say, the cheques keep arriving too!"

Other recent placements for international artists include CBS' Shark for Canadian band All The Brightness, CW's Everybody Hates Chris for French Canadian Michel Goudreau, NBC's Monk for French Canadian Jean Custeau, and indie films Bill (starring Aaron Eckhart and Jessica Alba) and Inconceivable (starring Andie MacDowell, Elizabeth McGovern and Jennifer Tilly) for Swedish artist Niklas Ahman.

President and CEO, Tanvi Patel says "Artists from all over the world are getting the attention of the most influential music supervisors in Hollywood through our service. For those international artists we've secured placements for, their music is being heard all over the world, as the shows and films are distributed internationally. The world is a definitely a smaller place, and every artist has a chance to make it, no matter if they live in Israel, Australia or in our own backyard.

Crucial Music encourages artists and labels representing all genres to submit music, which can be done very easily through the website. Once a song(s), is accepted, a non-exclusive representation agreement is executed and the music is added to the online database and made available on portable hard drives. When a particular track is selected for placement, Crucial Music negotiates a rate for the license, including the master use and synch fees, of which 50 percent goes to the label or artist. Access to the Crucial Music service to both artists submitting music and those seeking music for placement is entirely free of charge.

Crucial Music is the brainchild of industry veterans Jim Long and Tanvi Patel. Long is a recognized leader in the music business with successful ventures that include investment, ownership, and operations of award-winning broadcast and entertainment companies including TM Productions, FirstCom, and OneMusic Corporation. He continues to own and operate Point Classics, LLC, one of the world's largest classical music catalogs. Patel provides insight into the needs of both artist and producer and brings vast experience from the fields of radio broadcasting, record label operations, and the production music library business.
