Despite her calm blue eyes and serene almost childlike smile, Larkin Gayl knows quite a bit about life. From her childhood in a hippie community in the breathtaking hills of Northern California to her teen years sometimes spent with her divorced father in San Francisco's erotically charged Castro, she has always walked a line between many worlds and many loves. Although it was with her father that she first began to sing and record, it wasn't until she headed off to university that she discovered her true voice, one that would soothe and comfort the terminally ill as their lives slipped away in hospice. Larkin has lulled many a weary soul with her beautiful voice and songs and in so doing discovered her gift for shining light on human existence. Her extensive travels have brought her face to face with the true essentials of life and in the process given this California woman a unique vision of tolerance and love as well as a passionate and unbridled lust for living. In these confused times, brightness of vision and clarity of purpose are rare and precious commodities. Fortunately for those who listen, Larkin Gayl has these gifts in abundance.

Larkin Gayl's voice channels many influences, and her vocal phrasing and musicality is sophisticated way beyond her years. Her delivery and the solid musical production makes this debut album resonant in more ways than a simple singer/songwriter album ought to. She mines the emotional depth of her songs, but she's not over the top. The dynamics and arrangements are classics, firm and tasty. The songs she's written are richer for it.

"I Do" isn't the only song garnering attention; "A Life of Everything" is another bouncy song with hope, groove and a jazzy sense has been featured on San Francisco's influential KFOG 104.5 FM. Her cool yet sizzling "Impossible" was featured on the iTunes major Indie Spotlight and cited as a staff music favorite in their Folk Music section (It's earned over 10,000 plays on her My Space site.)

Produced by George Daly, and mixed by Gabriel Shepard, Larkin is backed by a sensational collection of session players that include , Bonnie Raitt's George Marinelli, Norah Jones' drummer Andrew Borger, plus Joe Craven (Jerry Garcia, Stephane Grappelli), Jim Rothermel (Van Morrison, Dr. John) as well as Dominic Miller, the famed British lead guitarist for Sting's band.
